Of late, I have been witnessing a very disturbing increase in the crime against females, be a girl child, a teenager, or an adult woman. It has almost become the order of the day. Newspapers are replete with such news. No doubt, India has been placed at parity with Afghanistan as the worst countries for a female to born in. Sometimes, I guess, had it been there in the past too but very less reported?.. or the mind set of the Indian male is becoming less human, devoid of any compassion and respect for the other gender, and is also becoming fearless of the Indian Law!
So, I fancied an idea to let the world know the dark side of "Being a Female in India."
Let there be the consciences shaken, people of all walks do some soul searching..take a pause and raise their voice, wherever they are, against the atrocities being meted out to girls and women, with a result that cruelity against the female gender starts receding, and we give to our generations to come a society where a woman is respected in its true essence-as as wife, as a sister, as a mother, as a grand mother et al..is the sole objective of this blog.
Amen.

Man sets wife ablaze in Ponda TNN | Jun 5, 2012, 04.35AM IST

PONDA: Pushpa Gaude, 37, has suffered 95% burn injuries and is battling for life in the Goa medical college (GMC) after she was allegedly set on fire by her husband at their home at Dhaushirem-Usgao in Ponda taluka on early Monday morning. Ponda police have arrested her husband Gopal Gaude, 45.
Ponda deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Dinraj Govekar said the accused had come home drunk on Sunday evening and as usual picked up a heated argument with his wife. He allegedly poured kerosene on her body and set her ablaze at around 5 am.
"The drunken accused abused his wife with filthy language the whole night long. When she went to sleep, he allegedly poured kerosene on her body and set her ablaze at around 5 am," Govekar said quoting the witnesses.
Govekar revealed that the accused was staying with his wife and their 11-year-old daughter at Dhaushirem-Usgao. The girl, who was sleeping in the house, woke up to the screams of her mother and called neighbours for help. Later, the neighbours who rushed to help, summoned 108 ambulance and took her to the GMC. The casualty staff of GMC informed the Ponda police about the incident.
Police have recorded the statements of the victim and registered an offence of attempt to murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
