Of late, I have been witnessing a very disturbing increase in the crime against females, be a girl child, a teenager, or an adult woman. It has almost become the order of the day. Newspapers are replete with such news. No doubt, India has been placed at parity with Afghanistan as the worst countries for a female to born in. Sometimes, I guess, had it been there in the past too but very less reported?.. or the mind set of the Indian male is becoming less human, devoid of any compassion and respect for the other gender, and is also becoming fearless of the Indian Law!
So, I fancied an idea to let the world know the dark side of "Being a Female in India."
Let there be the consciences shaken, people of all walks do some soul searching..take a pause and raise their voice, wherever they are, against the atrocities being meted out to girls and women, with a result that cruelity against the female gender starts receding, and we give to our generations to come a society where a woman is respected in its true essence-as as wife, as a sister, as a mother, as a grand mother et al..is the sole objective of this blog.
Amen.

Man burns wives, kids Jun 7, 2012, 10.56PM IST

KEONJHAR: A man burnt his two wives and two children alive in Keonjhar district on Wednesday evening. He suspected his wives of having illicit affairs. The accused, Thakurdas Mohanta (30) of Katupada, was arrested. The deceased are Saraswati Mohanta (28), Parvati Mohanta (25), Janha Mohanta (6) and a three-year-old child.
All efforts of the villagers to douse the flames failed. Fire brigade team from Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district arrived at the spot to control the fire. But they were burnt to ashes before the fire could be controlled. Thakurdas had married Saraswati, daughter of Nilambar Mohanta of Khadibeda in Patana block, a few years ago. As they had no children, he married Parvati, Saraswati's sister. Parvati has two children. All were living together at Katupada village within Patana police limits.
Police registered a murder case against Thakurdas after receiving a complaint from Nilambar. Thakurdas had informed Nilambar that his daughters and grandchildren have been burnt alive in a fire accident. But villagers suspected Thakurdas, who fled when villagers tried to attack him. Police arrested him from a neighbouring village. "The accused always suspected his wives of having affairs and threatened to kill them. We are probing the incident," said Pravat Kumar Routray, SDPO of Ghatagaon.
